I can't see a poll but, i have to ask are they coming back tomorrow to finish the rest of the take down?
I would rate that in the butchery nay abomination catagory.
what chance do plants have if people are going to treat them like that "but it will bush out nice"

There's a poll, just above the thread where they usually are. You sure you cannot see it?

It could look pretty if you hung some bird feeders off it and spanish moss.
And some nice plants in hanging pots..you have to have imagination.

It's ugly, I don't understand why you would trim a tree like that.

It is in the Mt Cootha botanic gardens here, japanese section.

I suppose this is the look they want.

That would be the last way I'd want a tree growing in a public garden. They actually want a tree full of poorly anchored branches? Sheesh. When I prune a tree it's gotta look just as nice standing next to it as it does at 30 metres away.

Such a beautiful tree when shaped correctly ( and so easy to shape!!) it wil never recover from a butcher job like this ,, culprit should be tied to it so we can pelt him with pig shit.. You know it's funny you should mention it, a large portion of shithouse pruning jobs I have seen are in Botanic Gardens. What the hell? Should be exemplary!

Thats a good question. We touched on it recently at TAFE but we didn't look at anything as extreme as this.

Well, judging by the other trees there they do not "pollard" it every year, they might trim the top a little and just whack again where-ever it suits them.

In reality for a tree that size I would tell a customer to remove it and replant, making a silk purse from a sows ear is quite a task.
