Funny I was just thinking this morning as I passed a home owner was cutting down a tree
Finally a home owner with sense, he had rented a aerial lift to get him up there
Not a hard job just a Blue Spruce about 40' tall but for a home owner it would have been a challenge
Made me happy to see common sense still lives
He probably got some silly quotes
I would have down the tree for the rental price roughly $450.00 with delivery
Drove by this afternoon and the Dudes were havin beer and a BBQ and the tree was all done and everyone looked happy
Made me smile
Maybe there is hope!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here is the unit they used

Those are great coz you can drive them around whilst elevated, no outriggers! But you need relatively flat ground.

I wonder how they transported it to the site?

The rental companies usually charge $150.00 to deliver and pick up
The unit is around $300.00 per day
So I figured it cost him about 400 to 450 for the rental
And yes they are sweet
I have used 80 ft units and about a month ago I saw a Genie 125 go by on a flat bed rig
All I could do was drool as it rolled by

My wife thinks we are silly
Boy's and their toys and all
Damn girl that was a 125 footer
The look told me she just did not get it

Well I did as I know you are as you read this

Ha!

This arvo a lady at my door. She's the back neighbour and has come over to talk about this bloody gum tree and get a quote to remove it and possibly even pay for it.

They're getting a pool and they hate the thing anyway..

Apparently, he never ever even spoke to them, was all BS!

So, this is gonna now get interesting, you see, she's that pissed off he didn't cut the tree down that she'll arrange it. If he doesn't allow it she said cut it flush to the fence line and since it's on the fence line it will be cut in half.

Once again, like a broken record, fence line trees create bad neighbours more than good IMHO.

For those who dont know, those are really crappy gum trees. And they stink!

Keep that video camera handy.

We had two blokes "chesting up" to each other over a tree on a fenceline once.

We turned up to do a "half prune" on the neighbours side and it was on.

If we had not stepped in it would have turned into a "punch up".

I wish a had a camera there, i could have sold the footage.
(would have been worth more than the job)

Well, get home around 1.00pm today and there's islanders cutting the tree down.

Didn't even get a chance to quote.

My neighbour says the tree owner organised and paying not the back neighbour ... this is also the guy I quoted $300 to ages ago. This is now the third time they have got the islanders to do tree work around their home. I was only ever asked once to quote a cut down only and that was $300 back in February. Now we're trying to find out what he paid these guys ... I'll check it out once their gone for clean up but the lady was out their raking up and helping.

It's 4.15pm as I type and the chainsaws are still running.

You can see the video of them.

Pay attention to what you see and what I say, how the climber never cut is arm is pure fluke, also note how they wouldn't know WTF a scarf (notch) is for.

6 mins long and 33mb WMV

OK

Here's for your history lesson.

First of all most come in via NZ.

They get NZ passports and with that they dont need visa's or anything ... come straight in.

Secondly, how many maori's or islanders are on the NZ south island? Not many, they dont like cold.

Thirdly, cheap flights from NZ to Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane ... where was it more like their preferred climate and cheaper to live? Brisbane.

We have a lot of them here, they have large families and just like all the other migrants that came to Australia they hang out together, so many move here and then tell their mates, families etc to do the same.

These are not Maori's, different, they speak Fijian or something that Maori's dont understand.

Many people oppose the visa free status of NZ visitors because of this, they are as foreign as the British (who founded the place) yet the British go through the wringer to get in here.

I did a job for a guy who lived opposite a house load of them ... also he was a council parks worker and no way did he want them near his house to do tree work.

Another job I did not long ago. Guy gets 3 quotes he told me.

I was $1100

Other Quote $1050

Islanders verbal quote only must pay cash $700

But he got me as I had website and written quote, insurances etc, money wasn't his prime motivator and he could pay me with a cheque and get a receipt.

Holy Jebus! How long did it take them to load all that canopy on the back of their truck?

Wow, you have wierd fobs up there... Ours are all fat necked down here...

Getting closer and closer to chrissy, all the local tree services round here getting real slow. ALL the shitty trees in the hood are being removed for chips by doorknockers now...

I'd give the game away if I had to do trees like that for $300!
We think the islanders here are Tongan or Samoan. Seems to be more of them all the time, and the councils can't get them either for no permit. The one who's name is taken leaves the country before court appearance I believe.

$300

That is ridiculously cheap to begin with. For that money that neighb would want to be your best friend!

My bet is the islanders did it for $200 or less, but the trick is after demolishing the garden, they will leave all the crap.

If you get asked to remove/chip it ekka you have to tell the guy $300 FIRM.

The islanders were back this morning with a ute to take it away, more sawing going on.

They did some extra palms but left them laying in the yard.
