I have just tried to change my climbing system over to a self advancing system. i am using a distel with a pully underneath. it s ok up in the tree but humping is impossible. does it only work by footlocking if so i am too old for that. Please can someone take pity on an old dog and maybe post a vid for me |

| ![]() Have you tried using a tether to lengthen the bridge Pomme? From what i understand that makes air humping easier.

Before I just changed my climbing system to my current one I was using the martin hitch with the pulley underneath... I never did any footlocking or gut crunching with that system (lotsa trunk walks though)... I'm using the prussic double tie system at the moment, been wanting to change over to the VT for AGES now... But don't wanna give up my gut crunching ability... What about a pantin?

I've found that with the vt,or distel its actually easier for me to pull myself up the rope hand over hand. Not the best way but must of the time its tautline for me.
