Default Help needed with UFS I.D.

Unidentified flying stump spotted in Georgia USA.

Is this some twisted sense of landscape artistry?

.....or an example of what can happen when pulling a stump out of the ground with a chain and things go wrong?

I've never seen that but there's always a first.

I'd say it was already out of the ground and they just hoisted it outta there.

Great pic

Hey here's a good one.

A guy I cut down 3 gums for a while back didn't want me to grind the stumps. Just cut them as close to ground as you can.

Anyway he rang today, bring your Kanga to my place and get rid of the 3 stumps ... he dug them out!

I got there and man, no way is the kanga gonna lift that and you aint cutting it in half either (too much dirt).

So I suggested he get a bobcat. Bobcat minimum charge @$110 + dump 3 stumps (rate is double of greens for stumps!) $50 = total $160 approx. I told him to work on that as a guide.

Quoted price for stump grinding $165.00 back when we did the trees.

So he busted his azz and dug them out, cut with a hand saw thru like 8" dia roots etc, used a block and pulley off another tree to get them out.....

..... total savings? 0

I grind stumps but every now and again I get a call to remove stumps.....stumps that are already dug up. I have a good sized Bobcat but I don't get into hauling away already dug stumps. I figure if the guy that dug them was on site with a machine that could dig the stump........that he could have hauled them away too, and that the customer wanted to save that expense and now they are calling me to stop by and give them a free estimate. No thanks.

Ha yea, thats similar with home owners wanting to clean up the mess themselves but just want you to prune/takedown the tree. Now im not complaining, i love this scenario not having to clean up the mess but the classic homeowner quote once the trees down "didn't think there would be that much to clean up!."

....And you guys know what its like cleaning up a entire tree dumped into one pile haha

Yep, especially when using a cherry picker.

You get log dumped on top of foliage etc, then it all gets mashed up.

When I offer this service I call it

"where it lays is where it stays"
