Default helmets behind wood chippers

gday everyone

Was wondering wat is the choice of helmets people are using we currently use peltor hard hats and ear muffs but they will no longer be available in australia(so we are told by our supplier).

We do not climb as we have a 75 ft gmj travel tower for this make life easier the helmets need to be of australian standards as we are a local council in geelong the earmuffs need to have a dBA rating of 29 or better. Our chippers produce 114 dBA. The safe working limit is 85dBA. (114 - 85 = 29) as we use veermeer wood chippers as the helmets would need to be able have a face shield attached to the helmet preferably mesh

Any help would be appreciated

cheers glenn

Your basic husky or stihl helmets with peltor III chipper muffs and an extended face sheild would suffice.

Peltor are still available to my knowledge. Best use the peltor H10 twin cups for prolonged exposure to high noise environments - there is no cure for tinitus! Arborgeen are a NSW based mail order supplier I use. I rate them.

No problem getting Peltor. Trev sells these, they fit any hard hat. Tree Gear|Arborist Supplies Tree Climbing Equipment - Face Shield & Ear Muff Combo

His site is at the top of the Tree World home page just above Google Search.

the Husqvarna helmets are a great allround helmet to use in the tree or on the ground. and it comes with the mesh visor and the clip on ear muffs.
