Default hard hats off

id just like to take a minute to tell all of you on this site that your professionalism and willingness listen and respond without attacking is impressive. i dont know if its the arrogence of my countrymen but other sites ive drifted up are not as friendly as this one. it seems to be commonplace on the othersites to rip apart someone who goes against the regulars grain. the way you behave toward eachother says alot about you all. im extremely glad that i stumbled across tree world and i hope to obtain as much as I can from all of you. we re all in it, or should be in it for the same reason...to be the best that we can in all areas of the trade and to provide the best possible care for the trees we can. theres a wealth of knowledge here for the taking and your enthusiasm keeps me coming back.
thanks guys.

There's only competition between hacks, mate... CA's and professional tree-care guys work together and are always buddies, even if they live in places whom are 5000 miles apart... I'll have to say that discovering treeworld is one of my major internet achievements of 2007.

I just got my 1st lap top and I can barely spell but this site has a wealth of knowledge and i tip my hard hat. Being self educated i have had to surround myself with people in the green industry who I prayed were leading me in the right direction. Some did some didn't . Im fortunet enough now to have somewhere to go and voice my apprehensions. Thanks to all

Here here Bigshea.
I also browsed a couple of sites but found the same.
Anyone can BS on the net about how big their company is or how safe they are compared to everyone else. But here on TW it seems like a smaller/closer crowd.
I have been in the game a while but since coming to this site my learning curve has risen dramatically and does daily. I've learnt not to just do it the same way because "thats the was it's always been done".
Love hearing the war stories good n bad, and love the pics from around the world.
My hats off too for the guys on here who put it out there for an independant opinion.

Hey guys, good on you. I'm learning too and the joke section is always a good laugh.

Hey Shaggs, it's funny you say that coz I went to look at a tree been butchered and the lady said they knew what they were doing coz they had the big truck and muncher thing!

There's an old saying ... go hard on the issue not the people.

So if you have a different opinion or experience etc it's OK to express it, likewise for those who counter it ... however what usually happens I've found is it turns into a gang war.

Luckily, we have had difference of opinion here, some light hearted jabs but no real gang wars .... and hope it stays that way.

Now I really enjoyed the swim in my pool today and I only had a handful of leaves for the whole week in the skimmer box.

Yeah people around here what asplunduh does for line clearance and think its okay then if they call I explain to them why topping or cutting half a tree off is bad.thier basic attitude is if you won't do it i'll get some one who will.

That is a universal problem and frankly unless there's a fine or regulation for it I think the good guys miss out.

My success rate on converting topping to something else more legitimate is around 50% which means 1 out of 2 people just go right ahead and do it anyway. And I reckon as far as companies/businesses that do it goes it would be 2 out of 3 that wouldn't care and go ahead and do it.

The very sad part is some claim they're certified/qualified arborists.

If the roadside trees are treated that way it makes it even harder for your argument, the more they see it the more correct it is in their eyes.

It's a tough thing for the good guys, and you can end up losing work over it coz they do just get some-one else. You might have a yard load of work but they want 1 tree topped at 30' and you lose the lot.

I was driving around on the north side of Brisbane and went past a larger property where they topped every single tree ... I'm talking many of them on a largish acreage property. The people who did that should be shut down!

Wasn't sure where to post this but it's going here.

Recently, I've *really* been looking at trees around town......while I'm driving. I keep almost getting into accidents cuz I'm driving along and see soemthing and go !!!! What hack did *that* to that poor thing??

It's been a toss up between watching the road, and watching the trees along-side the road lately. I'm sure some of you know how that is.
