Default Hand verbal signals tree climbing crew

It seems every job site has it's own variation on what signal from the climber means what. Someone calls "below" someone else is shouting "headache" and the other guy just lets it go.

With so many contract climbers and people moving around we should have a constant set of communications.

Universal signals: scuba divers have them, riggers, pilots and rescue teams even cyclists can get it together.

Attached is a first draft, sample set of tree crew communications, it would be great if we could get a good sensible, universal set of signals sorted.

So here is a chance to develop something. Any thoughts, improvements, additions (such as all the EWP signals), other issues etc lets hear it.

True, scuba uses them, but it tends to consist mostly of "im out of air", "i'm okay" and "F*ck you!"

I think individual crews end up learning what that crew uses, and there are a few universal signs out there that anyone can understand.

It seems that when bringing in subs who don't usually work with a crew, signaling is covered ahead of time, or radios are used.

Even in the world of arborists, not everything is called or explained the same, let alone using the same signals for everything. It's a hive mind, you gotta join the hive to learn the code.

I could see an understanding needing to be met with working with crane crews, but there seems to already be stuff on this that's somewhat standard.

Well I'm glad ya'll enjoyed it then. It was roughly adapted from some military thing I found online. The guns just make it more interesting.

Brilliant Therrin, no bloody help for the current project but I hope you have no copyright on that because I'm going to use it for all future climbing courses and rescue refreshers.
Maybe I can contract you to do some material for chainsaw courses and tree felling?
If you can get a laugh out of CODIT theory for pruning courses that would be helpful too.

If we cant even stop tree companys lopping trees, free climbing and other stupid behaviour, what chance is their of a universal hand communication system.
