Default Green laser pointers for daytime

Recently at the Vermeer show I had a chance of checking out these pointers in broad daylight.

I tried Tim Bushnell's Sherrill one which is around $90 USD when a guy was watching me.

He goes try this one mate, and it was way way better. Much bigger dot about twice the size and brighter. I could point out a termites nest up a tree 200' away in broad daylight!

And this little "now this is a knife" beauty is $119 Australian and available here. https://www.bintelshop.com.au/welcome.htm

It's the Bintel BGLP-20

Now if you do pruning and want to point out cuts etc you need this thing, or if ya want to make clever videos.

Mine cost ?40 so 3 ozzy dollars to the uk pound that would be around $120 ozzy dollars!! which seems a lot.

I've used mine for 3 years, it's a great tool for highlighting structural weaknesses, fungal brackets, branches to be pruned off, cracks, dead bark, discoloured leaves, dieback etc when talking to customers.

When dealing with your crew you can point out all the above plus good anchor points for climbing and rigging, attachment points for lowering branches etc.

I think you buy them much cheaper these days maybe ?20

I'd recommend them to anyone, just dont point them in your clients eye.

But some of the cheaper ones dont have the same power or intensity. Price is on par then, $119 AUD here for a good one.

I have the Sherrill one, the lighter weight version.

It's a very impressive tool when standing there with a client. Brings about a hi-tech element to a rather rustic, physical profession.

I pull it out a lot when doing evening estimates, but it's not any good in normal daylight.

When doing estimates on crown reductions for next Winter, I use the laser to point right to where I'll be making a cut, "That one, there, this one, here" and so on and give a little about why..."Overextended, this one back to that lateral, thin this overly dense area, selective limb removals in this reach, then tip prune the rest." Then by whirring the laser in a circle, you can outline the new size of the crown.

I really think this cements the deal because when you're booking a job in May for next December and slapping a whopper price on it, the client has a lot of time to reconsider, or get other estimates. I still have yet to lose one.

Thanks for the link to the mega-powerful one. I would definitely recommend that one over the earlier version.
