Default Got any trees you are especially proud of?

Being new to the site and relatively inexperienced, I am learning TONS of what not to do, just by reading and looking at the pics on some of these threads.
But every craftsman is proud of his work, I know I am. Lets see some shots of your favorite or especially difficult jobs. I'd love to see some of a work-in-progress theme, maybe a tree that's been properly trimmed over the course of 3-5 years or more. Like I said, I see a lot of what not to do, I'd love to see what can be done when things are done properly.

I love working on trees. But I'm going to toss in a variety, because variety is what I do. Much of what I do involves trees, even if it's water feature work or design. Pruning, planting or transplanting.

Anyhow, this is sort of mid-range of what I do. I enjoy lots of stuff, even the two constant years of converting watersprouts into fruit spurs on apple trees. The landscape photo along the street, is about 10 days after the old landscape was removed to flat bare dirt entirely, and replaced as seen, to fit the design plan.

This was my first paying customer, one of my neighbors. I still trim it every 4 months or so.

I think you are refering to the square step stones. The homeowners have visitors often, and wanted them to be able to park and step onto a surface to keep their dress shoes from getting wet. That stone was sandstone. They liked that color because it matched stone on their house, but it is more fragile, and I told them to return and switch to another type if one cracked within a year.

Kinda proud of my 2nd big removal. Did it for a friend of mine. I took a climbing class at treetools.com: Home . It was a general and expert course. Really basic. I had only been climbing for 3 weeks when I talked myself into it. .Picture 012.jpg

Hey, those are nice guys at TreeTools. I just traded them an ad on my website for a an in-store credit.

Don't you love the way some of those evergreens chunk-down.

Sort of fits a "landing zone" removal doesn't it.

Unfortunately most of the construction in the Central Florida area (residential and commercial) gets fan palms. They're cheap and grow like the weeds they are so the contractors put at least one in every front yard.

The trees up at the house are too close to the foundation and I've told the H/O this. They don't want to remove yet, so I am keeping an eye on the foundation/wall area. Our soil is sugarsand and very easily moved. I've dug down and the tree hasn't done any visible damage to the part of the house I can see. They are aware of the problem and will be deciding this summer how to proceed. Our neighborhood has all the septic systems in the front yards, so positioning of the trees is very important to keep the roots out of the drain fields and I guess someone a few years back thought these trees would work that close to the house.

Speaking of drain fields. Does anyone have a good link or any experience with the minimum distance to plant away from them? Palm roots don't seem to go very far laterally so I feel safe keeping them 10 feet from the edge of the field. But I realize other species can put roots out to the edge of their canopy. Is it possible for them to go farther if they know there is a good source of water at the drain field?

Maybe start a thread on Tree Root Barriers.

Then it could be discussed in detail under a heading that did not get buried in a photo thread.

The guys at tree tools are OK. They led me astray a couple a times but overall its a great place to shop. I have had them send stuff cross the u.s. for me. The owner of the company is a great guy. His two sons on the other hand? Really love those big evergreen takedowns. We rarely get one now but when we do I slam it!(im in ohio) The job in the pics. above went so smooth it was scary. The speedline was set up in one tree to clear the fence and the brush went next to the burn pile. In the tree next to the house we speedlined to help clear a fish pond. I have about 20 loop runners that I clip on a steel ring. When the gm collects them all, I send the ring down, he clips them on and up they come Every morning the gm. started a fire and made breakfst and caffee. When I got there Id have b-fast, the fog would rise and up the tree Id go.
