There's something that is a little odd in this report, anyone hear of an animal or human dying from glyphosate poisoning? I aint.

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. - A Murfreesboro man accused of drilling six holes in his neighbor's 60-foot-tall silver maple tree on Chadwick Drive and then injecting it with a poison to kill it will appear in court in late September.

Charles J. Barbarotto is facing six counts of "using pesticide in a manner that causes harm," along with vandalism in excess of $1,000 and criminal trespass, according to warrants on file Thursday at the Rutherford County Judicial Building.

The alleged victim, Kevin Burger, told Tennessee Department of Agriculture pesticide inspector Paul Sizemore that he captured Barbarotto damaging the tree on video tape July 24. The tree was on Burger's property, located at 7817 Chadwick Drive.

Sizemore later visited Burger's property to take samples from the tree for use in the prosecution of the case, according to a warrant taken out by Burger on the day the alleged crime was committed.

Court documents reveal that Sizemore determined the poison used to kill the almost fully matured silver maple, which Burger valued at $1,000, was "glyphosate herbicide."

The herbicide is commonly found in products like Roundup and Rodeo. Those products are used to kill weeds, grass and other invasive plants, but in high quantities can kill trees and, if misused, even humans or wild animals.

Silver maples are known for their ability to survive in poor soil and harsh conditions, and can live up to 130 years or more. They're also commonly used in residential areas for shade.

Barbarotto was scheduled to appear in a Rutherford County General Sessions Court on charges stemming from this incident earlier this week, but that hearing was rescheduled to Sept. 29 at 10 a.m.

The Daily News Journal attempted to speak with Burger, but messages left for him were not immediately returned Thursday morning.

A spokesperson for the Tennessee Department of Agriculture is expected to release more on this case in the coming weeks.

Ive heard of historic court cases where glysophate has been drunk in court to prove it is harmless.... I dont know how true this is...

Reasonable evidence of its ability to kill people in the Toxicology reports in meical journals from both the UK and Taiwan...just google Glyphosphate poisoning.

Never EVER ingest herbicides no matter what you may have read or heard. (I know you were not suggesting people should)

When I done my ACUP the instructor said some guy drank like 20 Litres of Roundup to prove that you couldnt die from it, I think he did tho, but that was like 20 litres. In most cases you would just get extremely sick and goto hospital coz you done something pretty fkn stupid.

lol...I have memory of a movie, when the barrister drinks from the evidence bottle ( which was a poison ) to discredit the other parties case.
He then had X amount of time to get across town to drink the antidote.

Poison is just that, Poison
