I was just reading the ISA and yank cartoons in non tree chat. If we want to shape the future of tree care the more we can unite the more productive we will be. The US is divided between ISA /TCIA you Aussies have your thing the Brits their thing so on. Just because the ISA claims to be international it may not be greatest solution but if we could have an international organization that every tree worker was a member of there would be a powerful voice that would benifit us and trees. This should be our goal to work together and gain influence. There's even talk Canada needs their own association. I think that would be a step backwards. Either the ISA has to do a better job and appeal to the international crowd or we need a new international association the unites us. The "quazi legal" code of ethics is the ISA's latest joke. I like the direction and the power to expel naughty Arborists but it's looks like something a couple guys whipped up over a weekend. Also Cert Arbs are a small percentage of tree service providers and the others are mostly the source of the trade having a bad image. Get it together.

Personally I think that world is too large and diverse for any one org. Also the local regs vary from OHS to tree protection etc. Lookk at Copenhagen and politics like UN etc. With a range of orgs and forums and places to go it gives diversity and keeps people on their toes.

I've said all I intended, except. The internet has changed the rules and it would be easy to make borders and oceans disappear now.

Perhaps there would be a way to keep local organisations that would be specific to their regions, but also a main governing body. Maybe to keep some organisations from becoming mates clubs.

Diversity is good. Stop and think, some place can ride the crane hook some cannot. So do we want some global fascist regime telling us all or do we want some places that are exempt from fascism? Dont paint wounds .... unless there's oak wilt disease .... just another typical anomally. What about this one, reduce to nodes ..... that can stay in USA thanks!
