I used to feel bad for my groundmen. I had a nasty habit of dipping Coppenhagen and if the wind changed directions......They were all real glad when I quit. Talk about dangerous...It burns the eyes.

Bill, the quote is, "There are old climbers, and bold climbers, but not both" Because the bold ones with the big ego dont live long enough to become old. Sad, that I have to explain that to you, but I'm not really expecting you to make it to your thirtieth birthday anyhow. You go do your thing, with your ego, and your "boldness"... I'ma keep feeling my years, and die in a nursing home in a pile of my own shit. HEY! wait that doesnt sound good either! Dammit! |

The worst two injuries were a guy hit a powerline with a steel core flip line and fell. He is wheelchaired bound today. Also had a guy got killed when he butt caught a large end of a large limb from a oak without a top. He was tied in parallel to the limb. The whole limb broke and he swung back into the tree after a 30 ft drop. Most injuries were slips, sprains, and one guy cut his hand pretty good after jumping a branch. (lost his balance and brought the saw down on his hand.) I've had a close call when pulling a large top with a backward lean. The hingewood gave out when the top just got past the midway point. The top almost twisted off the base and came down inside my safty line. Lots of things to watch for so I always advise new climbers to take smaller pieces. This limits damage to property and to theirselves.

Hey you should wear a helmet more often, seeing how accident prone you are. |

I'm not too Prideful to change. I've been wearing my hardhat everyday. However I never had a serious injury on one of my jobs. I still say you can have the chaps. Maybe I'm different but I would pass out if I wore them in the heat of summer. Of course if I slowed my pace way down....Maybe I would make it.

And how long will they remember you? Eh, maybe a month, then life will go on and you will be forgotten. And since you dont like girls, you'll leave no children behind. Your genes will become lost and exempt (possibly a good thing anyway). And everyone will forget about you. Go for it Bill! You can have big cajones, and dying young with them. I prefer being able to USE my package further on into life. |

2nd most dangerous industry in the world look it up for ya selves.and I only take my hat off too the ones that have climbed hundreds if not thousands of 80 to 100 foot + trees over houses, high voltage lines, and every other obstacle!!without damage or injurys,if you haven't done this then don't comment BOY.I know hundreds of guys in my industry and would only put half adozen of them up one of these trees.ya think ya good well ????en prove it bitch!!!! I CAN !! And proud too walk the talk. Also before ya think you've done it 100 foot gum over a house fences services wires for about $3,000 should be done in two hours off to the next tree!! We deserve more money.there's plenty of 60foot climbers out there so what, climbed them when we were kids |

as tight on money as our company is, some jobs are just a waste of money. id rather be working less and keeping up with the bills then working harder and going broke. i get jobs all the time after i turn them down. home owner "i want these trees to be trimmed" me "looks like a crown raise on one and a reduction on the other" home owner "how much?" me "about 600 for the big one and 400 for the small" home owner "are you joking? thats too much money im gonna compare you with another bidder" me "im a pro mam. you called me for a tree pro to do what your husband cant and im giving you a fair price" one week later the phone rings "hey can you come work on my trees? im willing to take your price. i think she was testing out who is the "real pro" and who was just trying to make a buck. the other guys were loppers and were trying to talk her into topping both trees to become less of an issue at the cost of a bit more then what i bid. job is done, target cuts made. tree is healthy and alive, looks good homeowner happy, money in bank. job well done. sometimes you just have to back away from a job for people to take you seriously. act like you dont need the job and chances are you will get it. some people dont like to hire desperate companies. if anything act like you really wanna work on their tree to make it healthy and nice. i often say "wow these are some of the nicest species of this tree i have ever seen".

I do not NEED to take them all, I WANT to take them all. There is not a single I was asked for to take down (and got the order to do so) that is still standing. Other trees that are still standing owners thought it to be too expensive. Old and Bold ? Constructionyear 1969 still going strong, I have to admit in Sweden trees are smaller than in the Netherlands and the gardens bigger. So throwing down BIG branches is often no problem. Followed by precisionfelling of the tree(s) |
