Default Cut down this antenna tree today

Poor thing, never got a great start in life, must have been a builders special.

Take a look at the great trunk structure.

And the forks were a just a tad tight

Oh, cant overlook the soil vulcano

Then the famous lopping of the canopy took place.

Which also helped to form these antennas along the branches

This is a look up shot of the biggest antenna, notice the distinct difference in bark texture.

And this was the final shot of the antenna tree before the antennas were removed, along with the rest of it including the stump.

I've got a good photo of a flowering red plum, which did what you described, and needed removal. I cut it in half and photographed the inside. The bottom pedestle, in case you wonder about the crease...

Check out the included bark in the image, showing just how skinny the main leader was in the "pinched" area in-between.

Flowering plum are okay tree, unless loaded with weak defects in the nursery, or neglected. But they do commonly "push up" what you call antennae.

I cut down and cut into Fire Wood, an Ash Antenna Tree 24 Years ago for a Farmer in his Bush. It was almost 24" across the Stump. What I figured happened to the Tree, was when it was a Sapling, it got Bent over, about 10' up from the Ground, by another Tree that fell on it, and bent it over. It had 3 Antennas on the Tree, and they were 16" across.
I've never seen another tree like that Before, or Since. Bruce
