Default Crazy street tree planting Ipswich

I am continually amazed what both developer and council approvals allow.

Here's some nice ficus hillii entrances.

And what they do

And of course as certain as a fly lands on shit you can expect your yard invaded!

Thumbs down Burlapped - bagged in steel wire!

At the same location a resident was concerned about ficus tree plantings close to their house. Surface roots all over the place had busted garden edging and made their way under concrete around the house plus ran a root between the house bricks and concrete pushing the concrete away.

So it was deemed time for these tree to go, they were planted mature.

Cut them down OK but when I went to stump grind, BUGGER ME!

I was running into reo wire, at first I thought it was just some debris left by builders but the round shape that followed the stump plus it was going straight down meant that these trees were burlapped in wire and planted like that. Also the bag was just thick black plastic.

Ekka, what did it do to your grinder? Here in PC, lazy landscapers are always leaving the burlap and wire on the rootball when they install trees. I get in big pissing matches with them over it. They tell me the wire will rust and the burlap will decompose. The 100's of root excavations I've performed indicate otherwise. In our high desert environment, I've found burlap still intact after 10 yrs and 30 y.o spruce trees with wire growing inside (and constricting) buttress roots.
