Bit of a rant and hate on the Government here. Was re-enrolling for my final year of Cert 3 this week. The prices were pretty normal, I think around $800ish as an apprentice being paid for by the company. Last year cost me around the same. When we were filling out the forms we were told not to mark down any other Cert's we have completed, especially level 3 and above because doing so would make the price skyrocket to over $4000. Seriously, wtf is the happening to course fees for TAFE, especially when you have completed other Cert's 3 and above. This is going to make it very difficult for a lot of people. |

I paid $4K 6 years ago ..... went privately though. So are TAFE rates way up then? Funny, labour Govt and all, it's usually the Liberals that want you to pay for everything.

I think our instructors said its still going up next year. C3 Arb while having another C3 in something else will end up costing $10k+ to some people, such a joke for a TAFE level qualification.

No suggestions of price hikes around here, wish I was an apprentice, $3,800.00 tool allowance, pay while at Tafe, pay while scratching arse, therapy after a hard day.. boss buys lunch because I forgot to make mine.. Self employed, full cost paid, 35+ days without pay (x 3 Yrs) while keeping employees busy unsupervised. I have guys working for me with higher qualifications than me that they got through other employers that admit they know less than me with my tafe education, like the teachers say, its worth every cent. grr |

I don't think there is a cert 3 here any more, just cert 2 & then certificate in arb (diploma). Our TAFE's are up for grabs next year because the Govt are not decided on which model to fund, private or public. After 14 months working at the northern TAFE's here, to be honest, I think private is the way to go. Soooooooooooo much duplication of resources & just plain waste! Ship loads of perfectly good furniture smashed & thrown into a skip (Croydon TAFE) not because it's broken or not needed, but because there is a budget to buy new stuff. I could go on, but would bore you all stupid! $40+K to remove a lawn & mulch the area, only to have a new lawn put into the same area less than 2 years later for $66K (TTG TAFE) See, you're bored already! |
