Post Cooling off periods on contracts

What do you know of them, do you have them, are you obliged to have them?

Some State laws actually over ride your contracts, customer can sign but have a period of grace to reverse their decision, any deposit paid refunded.

Smile Cooling off Period

Hi,
I know that for contractual work your deposit/show of good faith what ever you want to call goes by how much the job is worth. I think and don't quote me because as I’m digging into the murk (that’s my memory) with this up to $10.ooo your allowed to ask for 10% and over $10.000 5%, cool off would be controlled ultimately by state law, but I don't think its rude to keep your time from the deposit, your time it takes to do the quote...this I think is fair once the customer accepts the quote and contracted with you and pulls out because Joe blow cuts your throat by whatever. Down here it's generally by $50 bucks to ask for your time for writing up the contract, but we all have to abide by the law, so maybe a quick call to a lawyer or consumers affairs just to find out legally where you stand, before you end up hanging by your short and curlies. Hope this helps.
