I thought it might be good for all of us to once again, take a moment and think of ways that we each can try to be more safe in the work that we and our crews do every day. Maybe we can share some of our ideas , maybe we can encourage one another to keep more focused. I myself am trying to slow down a little bit and check my equipment and ropes for normal "wear and tear". It is easy to keep pushing gear past it's "prime" . I recently retired a few fliplines and chokers that may fail if pushed to the limit. KEEP WORKING SAFELY GUYS AND KEEP POSTING, I get lots of great ideas from Ya'll , |

thats a good word. making the groundies wear hardhats and eye protection are probably some of the most important ppe. I have been slowing down a little myself. Its amazing what you will trust even though it has slowly worn down over time. I think i am going to get a new helmet system and lanyard now that you mentioned it. |

safety should always be first in our mind, i have a weekly checking routine were i spend an hour or so going through all my kit, visually checking every thing i ever use to climb on, and testing and or re tieing knots. i do this in the evening, when i have time to take my time this makes me feel alot more confidant in my gear, and i know at all times ive really just cheked it all. seems a bit OCD but whateva thats what i do gear wise anyhow

I'm not sure that you CAN be overly OCD when working with tree gear.

if you spend so much time checking gear that the sun sets and you dont even start climbing then that might be ocd
