Cocos palm| Queen palm spade used for robbery

DE LAND, Fla. -- Forget the gun, one robber in Florida grabbed part of a palm tree to hold up a store.

Surveillance video shows a man, with his shirt lifted over his face, enter the V and F Discount Beverage in DeLand and demand money from the clerk.

A quick-thinking customer chased him out of the store with a bar stool.

The would-be robber was caught a block or two away from the store.

He's facing armed robbery charges.

Police said even though his weapon of choice was a bit unusual the sharp end of the palm could have hurt someone.
