Canadian wanting to go work in Australia
Hi there, I am a canadian citizen and also a certified arborist. The course I have taken, In Quebec to have the certificate is not the same as in the rest of Canada. It was a 9 month course with 8 hours of trainning ervery day, chainsaw safety and maintenace, tree pruning and trimming, lopping, isects and diseases, tree biology and proper maintenace etc. It has given my a diploma which is recognized here in quebec. I wish to go to Australia to further my knowlodge and explore this great field of work as an arborist however I also want to be sure to have the proper credentials and certificates as well as being well prepared to ensure I get a job in a descent company and area. Regarding credentials, Is it absolutely necessary to have your MR(medium rigid) certificate to get hired, should I take ISA certified arborist trainning to ensure employement? What are the more favorable cities to work in? I guess the types of trees you encounter depend on the regions climate? Are there mush larger trees in the tropical climate (Queensland) is it pretty mush similar in all the major coastal cities? Should I ensure myself with a job before or are companies hiring certified arborist/climbers all the time? Here in Quebec we work only from the beginning of may to mid december seeing as it gets too cold here in the winter to continue our activities, is work in Australia year round? Any and all information will be much appreciated if any other canadians have done this, please let me now how you went about it and how it turned out! Thank you very much!
