Hello, In my back yard I have a Chikapin Oak that is spaced about 22 feet away from a spot that I'm thinking of putting another tree in. Would I be able to put another tree in? If so, what trees could I put in this area? I live in Austin, Texas. I was considering trees like a Southern Magnolia, Texas Red Oak, Bur Oak (Pretty certain this is too big, but asking anyway), Elm tree. Tree would be about 25 feet away from the foundation of our home. Thanks |

thats WAY to close. the canopies will grow into eatch other. remember when planting a tree you need to know the species and how far the canopies will spread out. we run into all kinds of issues when trees are planted too close at our mango orchards. |

You might be able to if you planted a columnar species eg columnar oak, or perhaps an understory tree like Ironwood Ostrya virginiana or maybe Blue-Beech Carpinus caroliniana
