Exclamation Bunya Bunya Pine drops huge nut

hrm, as titled. The park across the road (Raphael Park) from me, just had one drop near us while out here, will add photos when i can. about the size of a basket ball approx 4.5kg on bathroom scales.

this WOULD have killed someone

Bloody dangerous those nuts!

But you know, some QTRA bloke might tell you there's less chance of getting hit by that than bitten by a shark, hit by a coconut or run over crossing a road?

....that link didnt pop up in the suggested titles, good read though.

4.5kg at free fall from +25m height is = death. no butts about it.

at least i have a very cool nut/pine cone to show friends and family when they visit

Councils down in Vic have their crews/contractors clean out those trees of all their fruit because of the potential lethality.

yeah, often, but not all the time. i live in front of the park and i know when it was last done - and who by. and the pines werent serviced. but yeah it is generally well kept so not hanging anything on anyone.
