Default Big Tree, Long Story

Several years ago a wind storm toppled our catalpa tree. My dh cut big chunks out of the tree and clean it out. I put on a face so he replaced the chunks. I started a garden in it. A big shoot started growing out of it and I wanted it cut off. DH put on a face, so it continued doing its thing. Turned out it grew to be a tree, blossoms and gives out snakes each year. I started seeds from one of its snakes. Since my camera is kaput, I brought in the pot and held it upside down and scanned a picture of it. Now we are wondering if the tree that sprouted on top of the toppled tree can be sectioned off and transplanted? Oh, the little pod near the right-angle of the white spot in the picture is seed pods from my peony bush, forgot to remove them before scanning my picture. Lucy

Well I lost my first seedling. It did sprout leaves, but was very small and I left it up close to the house to protect it through the winter. It did not renew itself come spring. I started two trees last summer and brought in on the porch over the winter, watering it about three times until now. Look, look. I have a tree. The other tree is much larger and looks great. I think it is starting to bud. Our large tree never gave leaves until much later than our other trees--so I am thinking I have two successes. I will update with more pictures.

That is weird! The tree fell over but sent out a sprout like a new tree! I thought only willows could do that!

Cool story, and you got a little treelet on the way there!
