Hey Ekka, its been a while since i posted so here it is. I finally made it to Aussie soil and so far its been quite an experience. I'm still in Sydney at the moment and have been checking out the Botanical Gardens. Its awesome. and the trees there really make it. Some of those Ficus are impressive. I noticed that there have been alot of tree fatalities due to the flying foxes scratching them up and defoliating them. I can see they have tried hanging Hi-viz vests in the trees to stop them roosting and sounding off horns

but they just dont seem bothered! As i walked around i must have counted at least a good few dozen stone dead trees. Seems like a major problem and the bats are protected too so they cant just blast them out of the air.
Where do you stand on this problem? Do you think re-homing them all is a realistic solution? I can imagine catching them might be tricky! Though i think the B.Gdns are just hoping that if they can disturb their roosting patterns enough they will just leave by themselves. But then whose trees will be next?
