Anyone care to give some hourly rates on wages for efficient climbing arborists. I was thinking $22 - $25 is pretty good on wages? Im not asking what you get, just an idea of what is out there.

I hire a climber for rough jobs at moment who is happy with $200/day, but some want $750-$1000 per day. It has to be a special tree and great production for those rates. For us $35 to $50 per hour is typical. But maybe the Australian dollar is worth more than the Canadian dollar? |

Last I heard, NG will climb for a company for $10/hr. ![]() But after checking around in this general area I've found its somewhere between $25 - $40/hr on average. I had wondered this several times, and had to talk to lots of treefolks out here until I got an idea of what was up with it. Last week I had had a call from a neighbor of a client I've done alot of work for, who wanted deadwood removed from a whole slew of trees on his property. While I normally charge a "quote" rate for a project, based on what needed to be done there I went with an hourly rate, just for myself working. It was mostly ground stuff with some minor climbing thrown in, and for my concern was relatively easy, but I quoted it at $65/hr. He was like "oh, oh that's far too much, that just wont work" So I reminded him that not only is he 45 miles out of town (out in the "bush" ya'll say), but if he had to call an electrician or a plumber out they'd charge anywhere from $60 to $90 / hr. And, that as "skilled labor" he wasn't gonna be getting anyone to do it for $15/hr (which is what he was thinking). Even if he went and hired some mexicans from the parkinglot of the local hardware store (@ $10/hr) and drove them back to his place, he'd still have to provide them with equipment, and the level of work they'd do is highly questionable. After explaining all this, and that I was very firm on my pricing, he said he'd "think about it" (more ), but I don't expect to hear back from him. Some people are determined to get as much work for as little money as possible, but they can just keep looking for all I care.
