Apparently you are best off buying the ISA study guide, read and digest well, then sit the test.

There is more to it than just the study guide, altough the study guide is very helpful. You need to know your ANSI, so buy the them too. You need Shigo's new tree biology, (has material that the study guide does not cover, and is on the test). Buy Arboriculture, (same thing). Buy and know your BMP'S. Your going to be giving a list of trees in your area, (200 I think) and from that list, you're going to be giving 10 to ID. know your latin! It is a very hard test, dispite what everyone will say about it. Most people will sit many times for the test before they pass. They don't do it now, but I've made suggestions that testers should know how to handle a chainsaw, they are tested on safety and techq. But i think a hands on demonstraion of skills is required. Certified climbers have that requirement, CA's should too. They should borrow examples from others countries, (like OZ, getting tickets, or something). GOOD LUCK !! And like everyone say's, "it's easy, any hack can pass it ". |
