Default Anyone heard of ABOL.

This mob sends me an invoice every year. I usually just throw it away. I've never had anything to do with them, never signed anything or spoken to them.

This year I got a reminder with a Direct Deposit slip, A/C no, $98 + GST $107.80

Abol-Tree Felling or Stump Removal in Australia

I'm not listed. Scam I reckon.

I'm just wondering how many people just pay the bill.

I've heard a lot do, it's a legit looking invoice. Send enough you must make some $$$$

Yeah there was more than one scam place run out of Gold Coast doing craplike that, a small percentage pay regardless and it's a small amount.

If you go through the site you'll see most listings are pretty much only showing what you'd find in say Yellow Pages etc anyway, places like this add listings for free and if they can get hold of your details send you a bill, some people pay the bill.

Pink Pages used to do that sort of crap too.

One woman got on the phone and started by "I'm confirming your business details".
I asked what for, and she evaded the question so I demanded and she then said it was for a Pink Pages add. I replied that I'd never authorised an add nor even asked to advertise with them so she got really shitty and abusive with me and demanded to know why and that they'd take action against me if I didn't pay.
I said go for it and told her I'd be talking to Fair Trading.
Back then Fair Trading didn't get involved in business transactions, but it got her off the phone.
Needless to say I've never dealt with Pink Pages for the last eighteen years.

A few business people I've known over the years have been stung by that sort of scam. Never a sole trader, but smaller businesses, usually with a couple of partners, thinking the other must've organised it.
You really have to check your invoices sometimes.

Pink Pages haven't changed, they rang me twice last week.

Everytime they ring I tell them I don't want to be in their book and they start getting nasty, I've never heard the full sentence.

I had an add in there once, 13 years ago. Got 1 call for a job in 12 months. I know because I used my private number, and he worked for them.
