So have any Americans made the move? I am a ceritified arborist here in America and have always wanted to work in another country. What special certifications do I need? What area of New Zealand offers the most work? I would love to hear from some New Zealand arborists as well. Thanks, Lonnie

I bet you'll get your fair share of trees down under, New Zealand. I think the whole place is an old growth jungle.

Hey mate, yea there is plenty of kiwis here. There is plenty of work all overi NZ, if ya good... The money isnt the best, neither is the work but its not too bad. I dont know many Americans that have worked in NZ legally and i dont know how easy it is to get a visa, with out one it would be tough to find work. If you look into it, i would like to know how you get on. Good luck, James

Thanks James, I will get there eventually, I am just trying to get the ball rolling as far as feeling out for the work. In the states Montana is the same way, work is so-so and the money is the same way. Living here is really great though. I feel like NZ might be the same way. Lonnie |

| ![]() I dont know of any American arborists that have moved to NZ but I'm pretty certain it's not too difficult as long as you meet all the criteria for the visa regulations. Asplundh NZ often seem to be on the lookout for staff and may work in your favour to get the ball rolling. Treescape is another company which may be worth looking into. They are both larger companies with contracts all over the country so could be room for swapping and changing to get to see the beauty that is New Zealand. The lifestyle is what I miss the most and the relaxed nature of the people. Good luck with your search! ![]() |

Nae bother buddy, good luck with your search. I have seen jobs advertised on Arbjobs.com - Tree Jobs! - Home which may be a good place to have a look through. once you get a foot in the door in NZ it is pretty easy to move around and change companies to find something that suits your style. |

That is a great website!!! There are some interesting jobs on there. Thanks again. Ideally what I would like to do is remain employed by this company in Montana and work seasonally for another company preferably AUS or NZ. Montana winters are beautiful, but are not conducive to production tree work. Thanks again Treeson!! Lonnie |

Let us know how you get along. I don't know that I'd want to move there for the long term, but spend a couple of months there would be nice. Kind of a subsidized vacation.
