Default Amazon rainforest research via satellite March 2007

The researchers report that the rainforests sprout new leaves in anticipation of the coming dry season. The greener forests capture more sunlight, absorb more carbon dioxide and evaporate more water during the dry season compared to the wet season. By gradually humidifying the atmosphere, the forests play an integral role in the onset of the wet season, scientists observed.

So that's interesting, and coupled with other research that showed trees move water around the soil profile by storing it deep during the wet season and drawing it to the surface during dry periods.

And regarding the way trees affect weather and rain this is also interesting which I think goes hand in hand with the situation
