Default Willow tree TD

Well, I said I would post some pics of that Willow TD I got coming up. So here they are. This is nothing compared to some of the jobs I've seen you other guys tackle. Long ago I attempted to make a self-bow of the same species. And what I recall the most was how light the wood was. Not to mention very brittle, but that I believe was due to how seasoned the stave was. Regardless of the bucket of ambition that I have I'm still a neophyte. With that being said all and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Had similar thoughts why not fell it?

Pics can be deceptive with regards actual distances, but even if you had to climb and reduce it slightly...still quicker to come down and fell the whole thing then process on the ground.

Hey Sean, have a look at the tree just to the right of your arrow (near the window of the house), must be 2 trees or that's one whack job of a trunk!?

simple enough to fell, just make your felling cuts at chest level after hooking up a pull rope. That'll save a mega amount of time not having to climb it.

I often prefer to make felling cuts right at ground level. This way you have a little help with the stump going over and you are ready to buck the log and ready to put the stump grinder on it or you are done.

we get alot of that on ash trees over here where it looks like two trees in one we also had an alianthus that had wind damage last year where one half had torn away from the other left a huge basal wound.
