Scarf and back cut alone took an hour on second tree. And b4 any1 says anything this was way back when I was startin,so nowadays all the ppe's are in place and workin. ENJOY!

Nice job, mate... BIG WOOD though... My biggest one doesn't even come near that size. A man's gotta have the right tools for the right job though, and then everything goes faster and better. Don't need to mention that buying big saws for one job is a nono huh.... I wonder what Angus McMahon will vote in this poll though.... Last edited by quercus; 2nd March 2008 at 11:10 PM. |

What sort of euc is that? Big alright, you'd be raking a huge pile of sawdust up. You churn through fuel and oil when doing that stuff. Nice pics, you all related?

Yea nice ha, How old was the tree? Why did it have to come out? Im not dark on doing what HAS to be done and i know eucs dont take 3000 years to grow but... I seen a article about heli logging in a mag once, always thought it would be cool as to spike up, smash branches off on the way up, bust out the 66 at the top and ungracefully demolish a 3000 year old tree. That was until i got into arboriculture (tree care) and talked to some of the worlds best climbers. At the end of the day i had to agree with them on killing irreplaceable trees. All for a bit of wood that will be more likely than not, will be rotten and gone in 100 years. But some times ya got to do what ya got to do eh?

Thats a mighty tree ya done, depends on the dropzone as to whether to get in cranes etc, Bit of the old elbow grease and some nice sharp chains and decent workers is all ya need to sort out any tree. Did you save any of the wood for carving etc? |
