| The state of Virginia has been running a contest to find the most remarkable tree in the state. I thought you guys might be interested to see what kind of specimens we have here in the Eastern USA. http://www.cnr.vt.edu/4H/remarkabletree/ They aren't all professional pictures, and I'm not sure they are all classified correctly, but there are some mighty fine looking trees here. | Thanks for the link Matt, what wonderful shots some of the pics are esp the elms So the Virginia State Govt have set up this project with support from the named sponsors? I've been following the Champion trees project for some years now but this is exactly the kind of community envolvement that is needed it provideds the potential for many different types of spin off developments so essential to effective Urban Forestry....great stuff Virginia![]()

| Honestly, I'm not sure who is putting on the contest, but I know that Virginia Tech has a lot to do with it. They are also hosting the site. VT is a tremendous resource for agriculture.
