Hey. Had an exciting day at work today. Wanted to share some of it with you guys The last days have been total chaos in my town, the snow is causing trouble for cars and trees. Hundreds of trees has lost limbs, and quite a few has gone down. Heres what happened: Got a call from the fire department when my shift started, they told me that there was a tree laying over a car, and into the road. I went to the site and there was a reasonable sized tree laying right on top of a mercedes. The hood and roof was bumped, the windshield was in thousand pieces and the car was filled with snow and glass. The job was to get the car out without further damage. I tried to get a crane, but since the normal working hours was over i couldn't get hold of the crane driver. The lifting needed to be done by hand. I bad only had my phone withe me, and there was dark outside, so the quality is bad. but heres what i got: ![]() The tree has been lightened as much as possible to make the lifting easier. The lifting has started. ![]() Bit more overview. ![]() One of the trees we were using as lifting points. ![]() Self-locking system on one of the pull ends. We used a 3-1 mechanical advantage system. ![]() Ready to drive car out. ![]() You can see the damage in the upper left corner of the car, it was crunched in quite a bit, the windshield was smashed and the hood was also slightly dented. ![]() The anchor points on the lifted tree. ![]() Of course the car didn't start, so we pulled it out using another car. It was a rater strait forward job, but not the usual stuff, so it was exciting to do. |

That looks exciting. The closest we ever get to that is the occasional tree on a house. Had one fall on a trash dumpster once.... I digress.... nice pics. |

Yeah I hear about the wild weather and snow up north. It's good to get jobs every now and then that allow you to muck about with ropes and rigging.
