Default split beech tree

Here's a job we did over the last to Saturdays. The first one was wet and damp, the second (yesterday) was fine. The tree was located at a golf course not far from here and I was asked to put the tree down through another contractor.

another batch of photo's to follow so hang on

In pic 121, what was in the way that we can't see from the picture that doesn't allow you to fell the spar to the "left" side of that leader that it fell and caught on?

Just wondering....

Nice job though! That thing is massive!!!! Good work!

It actually missed Therrin. Although the tree was dead anyway (sweet chestnut) and felling it was actually part of the job. I'd been trying to catch it many times from above throughout the climbing stage but kept missing.

I even missed when I felled the trunk (pic121)! After that I told them it deserved to stay for such a show of defiance.

Long may it stand proud

Thanks Ace. I had just turned 17 when I started and was climbing within about 2 months. I'm 35 now so thats over 18 years, all but 4 have been freelance climbing. I was lucky enough to get a job in Sydney at 20 for a firm called The Tree Doctor, had a good year there, returned to oz for a shorter stint at 24, then New Zealand at 27 for another year. Had a great time in Auckland, was well connected with about 5 Tree companies so plenty of work.

Currently in a place caled Macclesfield, Cheshire, England and things are good.

We hope to move to B.C, Canada within the next 15 months or so. The application process is very slow, in fact clogged up at present with ours stuck in the middle somewhere. So all we can do is wait, and wait... in fact we've been waiting 2 years already, but I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end.
