Very nice website Gerhard, were those dynamic cables cobra or similar? We don't see much of that here yet, couple of Arb guys in Brisbane use them very effective and much better than archaic rigid systems.

What are archaid riggid systems?

Might be the spelling, archaic = altertumlich/veraltet, and rigid = starr/unbeugsam. Basically most cabling I've seen here uses steel cable and rods, doesn't flex, stretch or grow with the tree. Cobra type systems are much better.

Yes we have redwood?s, but only in parks of castles, not in a forest.
I only know 3 redwood?s in our landscape with this diameter ( about 2 or 3 meter). They are about 130 years old.

archaic, now I understand it, we say archaisch or altmodisch.
We like to work with the dynamic systems, but youu can?t use them for every problem in trees. If the tree has a split, it?s mostly better to take static systems.
I hope I phrased it correct.

You phrased it perfectly Gerhard, and i agree with you there are times and places for each system...just a shame not many guys here even consider using the dynamic systems.

Ekka they are here too! Pruned one on Monday! Only some service wire clearance but used it as a high point to dismantle a seriously dodgy Oak that had been dead for about 10 years.

There is also a forest stand of them in the Otways

Fast growers then, I wonder about their timber value over those radiata pine plantations?
