Default Ring-barked macrocarpa and river job

I've just been down to frosty christchurch and found this old mac that someone obviously didnt want outside their house.
It was ring-barked all the way around with a chisel and ive heard conflicting stories; that grafts were used to fix it, and that they weren't used where the cambiums re-joined naturally... whatever the method, its one healthy bugger of a tree now!

This was one of the jobs we did down in Christchurch... was pretty fun.

Fun from the camera end.

Are they chainsaw pants or fish waders?

Great to see that tree survived,

Man if you were in that water this time of year it must have been friggin freezing?!

I'd say that macrocarpa jumped it naturally.

hahaha yeah wasnt me in the water but we had these thick-as waders, also the bloke in the water is a keen surfer and was complaining about not getting to the beach all weekend so it wasnt hard to convince him to get em on.
