In Autumn 2007 local authority Praque 9 organized administrative management-tender for removing big poplars (Populus nigra)) along small river Rokytka. Here willl be new trail for walkers and bicyklists. Poplars was old, with dry branches in canopy, with demaged stams - hollow, fungis etc. We worked with big crane - maximum load 80 tones-this crane can move to site as crab, aerial lift, traktor for moving logs and branches, chain saw STIHL from 020T to 660 This project was one from the biggest removing in Praque. I think good job, orr no?! Take care guys, martin* |

It's really good job, Martin! Black poplars is not very pleasant trees for most of city inhebitants, becouse of flying cotton-like seeds. In ukrainian towns such municipal offers are quite possible. Good experience!

Law condition: In Czech we can removing trees only in "no-growth" period. Law is stricktly: fruit trees is possible removing without permit, but only in this winter period. Other trees-privat garden orr public street and parks, with circumference more then 80cm we can felling only with permit from municipality. And expert-executive officer enumerate to you, what sort, how much and where you must planting new trees. Is only one exeption from law-dangerous trees-with crack, demaged roots etc. after storm-this we can felling immediate and managed papers later. I´s good praktice for "green" in cities.

Excellent work, Martin! I'm going to be helping on a biggie black cottonwood soon. It is over 6 feet dbh, and maybe 44" at 50 feet. center pin will be about 55 feet away. the prime contractor is trying to locate a crane service nearby. The tree is 1.5 hours from other crane co's shop, add to that the set up time, and figure 9 hours billed for 2.5-3 hrs of actual work. A 90 tonner might be too small....would like to pick 20 footers as then they can be sold for $190 mbf which would more than pay for the logging truck.... but a 20 footer off the butt could weigh over 20,000 pounds.....We can brush the tree out manually, with the GRCS, to save crane time. at least, by early January, the sap will be all the way down, so the wood will be lightest possible. For that job, I'm gonna buy a Vio POV 1 helmet camera. Check out my photos at ??????: rogerbtree's Photostream.... and videos at YouTube - rbtree's Channel |
