Wow nice pics there phil/mushi. In the night one, I took away some of the darkness and dimmed the light for yas, the edit looks heaps clearer and really shows you what is going on

You really shouldn't throw logs onto the EWP mate, especially from that high!

Question. How do you remove 2000kg of dead Jarrah log where you have no access for a bobcat?? Answer. Insert groundie with paddle and wait for rain. |

Loved those photo's leif sent in of the troll wood. We we have some pretty funky timber in WA too. This is some e.maculata ( spotted gum ). The deformation you see is quite common but this is the most extreme I have ever seen. This guy has an acreage property about 80km out of Perth. He has 365 e.maculata down his driveway. I know because I pruned em all! ![]() |

Such woods are really magic. Here is another picture of the "troll wood". It's taken on a cold January morning. The sunrise colours are stronger in the winter here. ![]()

Wow. Leif every time I think you have sent us your best picture, you raise the bar a little higher. That is simply one of the most breath-taking sunset photographs I have ever seen. Despite entering on my own behalf... This gets my vote for a winner. |

The "notch" that Adam is sitting in was caused by a break. How long ago it occured is is hard to say. The current owner has had the property less than 5years and it was a dead tree when they bought in. Here is a picture of it pre removal. You can see the power line it hung over heading in. I asked the owner if he wanted it left as a habitat tree with all the limbs removed but he decided on complete removal. Fair enough when you consider they have over 700 eucs from 8 years to 200 plus!

Thank you, everybody for encouraging greetings. Yes, nature is breath-taking, and some days are more intense than others. This morning I couldn't sleep, and happened to stumble over this sunrise. The picture is real, this is no photoshop-business, and I have more of them. One thing I regret: I should have taken photos with more focus on the trollwood and the sunrise as background. I have earlier posted my 5 competition pics, the reason why I didn't choose this one was that I felt there was a bit too little wood and too much sunrise according to the competition rules. I posted it here as a small greeting to OutofMytree and his trollwood picture. I am a bit afraid of messing up the competition by posting too many pics, so if I am going to post more of them I'll use the thread "My place". I became interested in pictures as a little boy. My grandfather was one of the first photographers in this place, and I often looked at his pictures at rainy days when we couldn't play outside. He died 30 years ago, and he left me all his pics, about 750. His photowork vas very simle. Everydays motives, and sunlight to develop the pics. As a small girl, my mother counted seconds for him in the developing process. As young he worked in a general store, and he used his first self-earned trifles to buy a camera. I'll share with you one of the first pics, taken in 1908. More accurate, this one is taken by my great-granfather with my grandfather on the haycart. The negative is on glass, and the quality is still nearly 100% one hundred years later. And by the way, modern CDs are supposed to last 30 years.(!) If someone wonders, it is Bjoerndalen where I have made many of my other pics. And with this, I'll leave the competition thread. Leif.

Ok, you asked for it. Look at this picture closely and ask yourself, does God have a sense of humour? ![]() Dont quite get it??? Allow me to invert the image. ![]() Just in case you are wondering there was a practical purpose to this photograph. After careful consideration I sent a different picture to the catholic school whose tree this is..... ![]() ![]() ![]() |

What the judging process is each sponsor selects 3 pictures. Then together we select the 3 best of the best and put them in order.

Thank you, TrevMcRev for voting for my sunrise picture. I am of course pleased to see that you like my pictures. But it is a sort of a misunderstanding that this picture is in the competition. As I have commented earlier, I was stupid enough to post this picture as a part of an interesting conversation with OutofMytree about “troll wood”. I had already posted my 5 pics, so this is the 6th one. I realize that I have messed up the competition and broken the rules. I don’t enjoy the feeling of being a cheater. I expect that the jury will find a suitable punishment…. Leif |

Oh bummer, i liked that one best of your pics, but i appreciate your forthcoming honesty. You are still in the running for a prize as ekka chose one of your pics anyway. I will nominate this as my replacement pic then, as i deliberated for a while over these 2... Actually i just edited the post to keep it all together. Thanks Leif. |
