Here is another: ![]() Speedline, Chunking, Sunset with caption. Hey TreeKiwi, is that a panoramic shot or something? It looks SO BIG yet SO SMALL? ![]() I'm betting it is and that the tree is HUGE! Got a higher resolution of it?

Goods shots ace ![]() Hey, whats the go in the first one?? Big a55 3 strand on the piece & smaller dia braid on the friction device??? Is that deliberate for fitting on winch or necessity for length??? John D's getting creative with the montage....Nice |

NO we had two ropes on it, the braided line was only there to slow the piece down from swinging ,the three strand was the lowering line which was connected to a t piece lowering device that connects to the back of the truck by a d ring, this is because none of the lowering devices accept this size three strand. | |

| ![]() Picture competition, that sounds interesting. Tree or tree related, that was general. Iv'e seen no further explanation, so I guess Ekka wants us to define ourselves, what we find to be tree related. I have nothing like your spectacular climb pics. After some thinking, I'll post some pics of a very special wood, and some of things I have made from wood. First this special wood. It grows at an island in South Norway, it's called Tromøy. Spruce and pine are growing close to the sea, struggeling against wind and weather. In winter trees are broken down by snow and wind, rises up again in the summer. So it goes on for many, many years. Someone has given this wood the nickname "trollwood". Troll is a figure in the Nordic fairy tales, a big creature living in the wood, having one eye, a long nose with moss. The troll name has been used and misusedquite a lot, coming to Norway you'll see plastic trolls in the first souvenir shop you see... Nevertheless, in the troll wood you may experience a special mood if you like, feeling the nature really close. ![]() ![]() Later I'll post some pics of wooden things I have made. LeifR |

| Well, here they are. Bowl or sculpture? Hard to say. These ones are made from a burl I got from a logger. It is birch, and the burl was debarked when I got it. The shape was rather complicated, it was in a way a belt curled together to a sort of an S. I had trouble in deciding what to do with the lump, but at last I cut the S in three parts and put them in the lathe. It is not possible to turn the whole thing to smooth surface. The wings will vibrate a bit, leaving a good deal of grooves that must be finished with scrapers and sand paper by hand. ![]() Making this dinghy model, I had in mind drawings in books I red in younger days, Robinson Crusoe and others like that. I guess that de Torres, Tasman and the other big guys brought with them boats like this, exploring Australia and the Pacific The model is made from pine and oak. ![]() The fishing village is partly made from pieces of wood found at the beach. The cliffs are perforated by naval shipworm, creating a special pattern. Some of the worms have left their shell inside the hole. Making such decorations, I think it is necessary to feel a bit childish, look at it in a humoristic way. Try to create a tension between the rotten wood and some hand made colour spots. As a small joke, the registration number of the fishing boat is like the real ones: TK is our area Telemark, then follows my birthday, and L stands for my home village Lunde. So, dont take it too seriously! ![]() LeifR |

Heres mine. First one had to get permission from the council to remove this pole. They had place a vegetation protection order on the pole but allowed the builders to do this!!!! Second one down the gold coast. Got full page article written up in the Gold Coast Bulletin about this one. Took about 60 trees out of four blocks. But they all fell into the councils 3m rule.

kidesqu, that ficus shot is interesting. I'm sure a lot of trees feel like that in their current growing environment. A pot plant gone wild there. Leifr, that model boat is amazing |

Different. Do you have this in larger size? ![]() It says we can use it for aerial rescue! Arboriculture| Arborist Training in Australia| Where to get it step by step Watch the ignoramuses argue this one.... man 100' up and has blood oozing, losing consciousness, immobile and the 80T crane is sitting there, would you use it? Of course you would. Would you bother taking 200' of rope to get back down or would you have the crane lower the both of you? Oh, life is really easy when you think about it, just some how people have to complicate it.
