Yep I try to stay out of the heat so mostly lying down under shady tree dreaming of towns and cities full of leafy suburbs.......mainly I take 95% of the pics. The trees will be guyed tomorrow Ace, our contract was only for the process of transplant am writing another proposal to the road construction company in relation to 1yrs PHC for all 7 trees tonight, if they accept it i don't actually expect the trees to loose much leaf at all, well maybe one of them might. Mimusops is as tough as any Ficus, very very strong plant. PHC will be mulching soil drenches and watering, all the usual stuff. |

Just a brief posting from my week up north, this tree had lost just over 30% of its canopy about a month back (storms) Before ![]() After storm ![]() Options limited on this one since the land owner City council very risk averse in this high profile area...remaining canopy very exposed as a result of breakout...risk to persons not excessive, but likelihood of future failure in remaining canopy very great. Previous breakouts had already produced large hollows in the main stem and scaffolds..we pushed for retention of the tree as habitat...here's the results.... Part way through ![]() Final snag ![]() The tree is also an anchor for a large peice of public art, council are going to plant another native tree near the new habitat tree. |

Hey Sean, you guys gunna come back and keep knocking off the epicormics as they come or let it bush up? How come yas didn't ring bark it? Did you put a sign on it saying it's a habitat tree? Or can we expect a thread from another company in NQLD saying, look at this hack job on council land too

If you were going to leave it as art, you should have done it a little differently.

Sorry should have said the stem was poisoned, after being ringbarked... ![]() Yes really good pics TreeSpecialist of the art work...in the case of this tree the pubic art is a huge red back spider, you can just see the legs of it to the right... ![]() Council had a temporary sign up which I forgot to photograph, a permanent one might be going up..after the amalgamation they have a lot of other things to get done first I think! |

You're right the PR opportunity for Arboriculture and education is big but the timing in relation to the amalgamation process is a disaster! The "new" council will be chasing its own tail for at least 18 months I think.
