Hello, everybody! Every time i open this forum, Ekka reminds me that I haven't posted anything for weeks. Well, here I am. I have read the posts about embedding pictures, and I'll make a try to get these things work. But first one question: I sometimes post on another forum, and there it is far more easy to embed pictures. Just click, and there it is. All about url and that stuff goes automatically. Is it possible to do this in a simpler way? ![]() If this works now, You'll see a picture from the place I live. The place is called Lunde, in the southern part of Norway, near the town Skien. You'll see a part of the canal that makes it possible to travel by boat just from the sea and more than 100 km into the country. If this works, I might be back with more pics. Greetings from Norway. What it looks like in autumn here? My first picture is early autumn, the leaves have been yellow. Later on the colours turn to stronger yellow, orange or red. Here is another picture from the mountains not far from here. Late autumn. LeifR. ![]() |

I love that colour change, we don't get cold enough to see it too much here. My backyard. |

| ![]() A bit more from my place. ![]() This is my farm, but I dont live there. The farmhouse is quite beautiful, I think, but badly attacked by house longhorns. The house was rebuilt in 1922, in what we call Swiss style which was modern at that time. The farm is called Bjoerndalen, it means Bear Walley. Now we have no bears there ( I think!), but a couple of hundred years ago they were really a threat. Once a young girs was caught and eaten by a bear. My great-grandfather bought it in 1887. I have a lot of good memories from this place. I spend a lot of time here, working with my bees, maintaining the houses (do I ever get finished with that?), and in winter I am logging a bit. Just now I have a milling project going. Iv'e bought at big oak, and make planks of it. My mill is a Swedish Logosol mill with chainsaw and electric motor. ![]() LeifR |

I'll say it again, it's a beautiful place. I like the mill you have. I really want to get to scandanavia one day. Are there many car rallys in your area? I can almost "feel" the roads in the background there..... Norway, Finland & New Zealand would be amongst the best rally roads in the world. Victoria Australia has some good ones too.... |

We don't have rallies just where I live, but there are some racing grounds in South Norway. Some of my pupils are very interested in rallycross, one of them is going to make a video from a race in a couple of weeks. I can't match your rally car, Trev, but I have two classic cars. Here is the best one. ![]() It's an English car, Hillman Super Minx 1966. I guess they were sold i Australia too. Ekka, these pictures are made with a Canon EOS 400, but I have another one too, an old and simpler Ixus. (What is "old" in the dataworld?) Many of my pics are made with that one. The picture of Bjoerndalen is taken in low evening sun that gives warm autumn colours, Mostly we have clear and clean air, but not always. But smog dosn't exixst here at the countryside. This picture is made in the spring, with the Ixus. Appletrees are blooming, the bees are busy. ![]() Soon we'll have winter. Perhaps I will post some "cold" pics later, and welcome to Norway! | ![]() Yes, honey may taste different depending on what plants or trees the bees have been visiting, The most important nectar plant here is the Calluna Vulgaris that grows in enormous amount in the woods and mountans. The honey tasts quite strong and contains minerals etc. A lot of people eat a spoon of this honey every day as medicine. ![]() My daughter Kristin and I, working with honey. ![]() In some weeks we'll have winter here. But until then we enjoy the autumn with beautiful colours. We are picking apples and berries, preparing for the winter. ![]() Both the mill and the bees are sleeping, waiting for better days... . | ![]() Thank you guys for your response, that you like my pictures. I am quite overwhelmed of all the nice words. Here is a "fresh" one, made to day. ![]() This type of house is called "stabbur", and was used for keeping grain, meat and a lot of other things. People even slept there in the top floor in summer time. As kids my brother and I slept there some times. We were listening to a lot of exiting sounds until we at last fell to sleep. House longhorns inside, animal sounds outside. Long ago the longhorns used to be called "dead mans watch". When people heard them, somebody was going to die... . The connection to death was of course that when someone was going to die in the house, the other people were so quiet that they could hear the longhorns chewing, knirk, knirk, knirk, like the ticking from a watch. These houses were built as log houses and painted with tar. This house is a more modern type, built in 1923. The colours are typical for that period. The beautiful tree behind is horse chestnut. Yes Trev, my old Hillman is a nice car. I like driving it, if I only had a bit more time to enjoy it! LeifR. |

Nice photo's Leif. The first one reminded me of a little town in Vermont near the Canadian border, Island Pond. The "snowy" one reminded me of the same place in winter. Island Pond is the snowmobile capital of the North Eastern US. |

| ![]() To day we had a foggy morning, but after a couple of hours we got a brilliant autumn sun, perfect for photographing. So, here is my little village Lunde with the mountain Lifjell in the background. Highest point about 1300 m. Twoo weeks ago it was snow there, but now it's gone. I think I'll climb a peak there tomorrow. ![]() Iv'e spent a few days at the seaside near Arendal. Offshore GP city! We have a caravan there, quite close to the sea. This is an "after the storm" shot. I love the sea. It's beautiful, wild, peaceful,... everything! Leif. |

| ![]() I announced recently that I wanted to climb a peak in the nearby mountain Lifjell. I had a fine walk up there in nice weather. Good to feel a bit "air under the wings". 1150 m above the sea. The photo is taken by placing the camera on a rock, and with self-timer. From here it is possible on really clear days to se the ocean as a gold like streak in the horizon. This day it was a bit hazy, but it was clearer than the photo shows. The picture lies a bit because of the light towards the camera. ![]() Water is clean and fresh in the mountains. ![]() Leif. |

| Sure! ![]() ![]() ![]() I was here! People build cairns like this. Also to mark the path. ![]() ![]() ![]() As you see, there is a trollwood in the mountains too. The trees are ill-treated by snow and wind just like at the sea, but in the mountains the trees grow more slowly. They become therefore more bush-like and thinner. But the view is quite good!
