What is a house longhorn? Here in the states this is a longhorn. I'm guessing not the same. ![]() Also, trollwood sounds neat. Is it what you call the resulting area of windblown stunted trees? Or is it just a type of wood? Lastly, some shots of my brother's back yard last winter, and my house in Florida at Xmas (No snow) ![]()

Beautiful pics! Winter colours are very nice. House longhorns are according to my dictionary woodworms. Here they really are a problem in old houses. But I am happy not to have American longhorns in the wall! "Trollwood" is just a nickname somebody has made up, because one may feel it a bit magic beeing there. It's no special wood or trees, they have just a lot of times been broken down by wind and weather. Each time they rise up again until they at last die. Then the wood is so fat that i rots very slowly, and the tree is left like a sculpture for ages like this one. ![]() LeifR.

| More frost. We have had some snow, now it's gone because a lot of rain. But the frost is back, giving a lot of chances for making pics. This one is an evening shot at our river. Lunde is also called "The village with the bridges". We have four old ones from about 1920, and two new ones. This one is the biggest of the old bridges. ![]() It's a special beauty when it is frosty and cold outside, but we also feel comfortable indoor. Here are some of my pupils in the 7. class, they are making blueberrypickers, waiting for warmer days. Or perhaps some of the berrypickers will spend their whole life in a rack as a decoration? ![]() Leif. |

Great pics, Leif! Thanks so much. Great to share your countryside and your life with us. Uhh, did someone say snow? How about mountains? ![]() We Seattleites call Mt. Rainier "The Mountain" It's a mere 14,411 feet higher than the Pike Place Market, where the fishmongers throw fish at each other.... we like to get deep in it too... ![]() We skiers call this a "face shot" Skiing deep powder is often compared to having sex...great sex...maybe better.. |

Thank you, Galbee. Well, it isn't that nice all the time. When it is misty, rainy, windy......, when not even my dog wants her evening trip, then my camera is sleeping as well. By the way, making video from weather, any sort, is interesting. I've made a plexiglass box for my videocamera. That opened new possible motives. The worse the weather is, the better movie. ![]() Leif. |

Thank you, Tilia! I have several times wondered if I should share with you others some videos made by the Norwegian national broadcasting (TV). These programs are called something like "Where no one could believe that anyone may live". It's about people living alone or a few together in lonely places far away from city noice and stress. Romantic? In a way, but perhaps not always. Nevertheless, norwegians love these stories. Myself I prefer those ones which are from the coast landscape. But here is a link to one from a place a bit like that one you mention. No grass roof, but a nice place. The wife is from Germany. One problem is of course the language. There are some interview scenes, not only in Norwegian, but in strange dialects. But perhaps you will enjoy views, nature, old houses, animals and a simple lifestyle? You will need DSL line to make this work. NRK Nett-TV - hastighetsmåling And by the way, a small january greeting: Sunrise at the coast of the North Sea. ![]() Leif. | ![]() I realize that the link above to the Norwegian TV doesn't work for some reason. If you want to watch these videoes (about 30 min each), try this: Type the address NRK. Then choose NRK NETT TV in the menue, then PROGRAM. Here you will probably find a picture of a man with grey beard and the text "Der ingen skulle tru at nokon ville bu". If you don't find this picture, choose D in the alphabet above. Then you'll see all programs starting with D. Here you will find these programs several years back. Still, I guess none of you has learned Norwegian since last, but may be you'll enjoy the nature. We have a lot of snow just now, it has been falling the whole week. We have about 70-80 cm. So, here is a weather report: Newfallen snow with some frosty fog. The neighbour has had a logging machine to fell some lumber. The landscape looks much better with snow after that work! Leif. |

I posted earlier a picture of some pupils in our 7. class, with their blueberrypickers. The other pupils in that class wanted to show you what they had made too. So here is a new bunch with their fisher village pictures. Some pieces are found on the beach, some are hand made. ![]() This picture is double sided, and the church is placed in a cupola made from a broken bottle. ![]() Leif. |

| Fox hunt. Just a small report from my fox hunt cabin. It's a small room built inside my old barn. It is comfortable for one, a bit narrow for two. But two works if they are good friends and don't start fighting. There is an electric stove inside, and with a cup of coffe and something good to eat, the hours pass by quite fast while I am waiting for the fox. In october/november I start throwing ous some scrap meat, dead hens, crows, fish, or dog pellets. With snow all over the landscape, it is often quite bright in the night, and it is an exiting way of hunting. This picture is taken the day after a successful night. With one meter of snow, it was not attractive to "swim" to go and get the fox in the middle of the night. The fox is still there. The lower part of the window may be opened, but there is also a small hatch (arrow) for the gun barrel. ![]() ![]() Leif. |
