Default lightning struck hemlock

With the recent storms we have been having here ususally late in the afternoon just after work and right before a shower and dinner mother nature lays some woop ass on us. In a matter of a second or so this 80ish year old hemlock lost its life. Pretty straight forward removal got the top off the garage and sheds than came back the next morning to get the trunk down. The bolt hit the tree down to the ground under the shed over to the house (maybe 30ft) hit a retaining wall and blew rocks up on the porch and into the swimming pool.Enjoy

Nice picts. Nasty strike. Lucky garage didn't catch on fire, looks like slabwood siding. Where you at east Pa.? You near the Delaware? Hard to believe people plant hemlocks up against their foundation all the time (landscapers too) when they can get over 100' tall.

Treevet, the tree was there long before the house was I remember seeing this tree when we would drive by and thought man that is one beautiful shade giver. I am about 30 mins. west of the Del bridge on Int. 80

Ekka busted it in 1/3rds I had to strap the trunk with rachet straps so it didn't fall apart when I cut the trunk out good thing I did each block cut off fell apart. The shed was made out of oak timbers.
