Hey

He's a little shy but I snapped off a few pics of him culling the neighbours 2 palms closest to my house.

Was getting flowers in my gutter, when fronds drop they bash the roof, close to retaining wall, the stupid crows and lorikeets sit in there carrying on in the mornings and the neighbour mows our lawn 3 times in return.

He's got those bizaar Gecko's.

I haven't climbed on them but tried them on, I dunno, if ya climbed on Bashlin alloys with caddy pads then you'd be able to make a fair comparison.

But I might give them a try on Tuesday on some cocos palms.

Hey how it going, yea i cant believe i killed 2 innocent palms just because they were "dropping leaves in the gutter " haha. There was a group of 4 so i like to think im just giving the others a chance to prosper.

Yea im on geckos and love them, so light and soo comfortable - as far as wearing spikes goes.

Im climbing on a Butterfly but thats soon to be replaced by a Tree Motion when i get to Europe.

Will keep you all updated!

Non venomous but you'd get a nasty bite if it had a go at you ... didn't exactly look happy.

Ole Steve Irwin would have picked it up, played with it and maybe even kissed it when he let it go like Rex Hunt does with the fish he releases.

Imagine you're up a cocos palm about to clean it and that sticks it's head out at you!

Then I asked him if he saw my bore-wing cut video and

And yeah, he remembered it, and got motoring on real good. You have to make sure the overlapped cuts are only like 10mm or so apart or you wont snap the block off.

Yea thats the one Ekka. Never cut any thing even similar to palms, Ekka you were just waiting for it to happen to me wear'nt ya haha.

Boa, the positioner is awesome, great in sticky sap. It holds every time NEVER slips and there is no slack/wasted motion when adjusting like there is with prussics. It takes a bit to get used to though, the device is a bit touchy when releasing with tension at first but i would never go back to a prussic (knut) again.

You haven't done palms ifin you havn't got your saw stuck!..LOL.. once is enough..especially if the customer is watching!

my best one was telling the customer about the bloody great big palm spiders that get on you..and have a guess what came wondering up over my shoulder..a bloody great big palm spider....ewwwwww..my face near on turned inside out.....but we all had a great laugh about it as soon as I finnished doing the slap

Hate palms with a passion!!

Lol you meany Ekka, that was entrapment!

But when you do cut them right, jeez it's great when it glides straight through like that.

I remember the first time I got my saw stuck in a palm, I remeber it vividly because the customer was one of them really good asian ones and was there watching. It got clamped, yelled down for the 250 up and cut it out, it was really embarressing... But all was good, he offered us a bunch of some beer (Some posh brand I'd never even heard of) but none of us drank so we respectfully declined.

Good job! I know you guys all say you hate them, but those trees look like fun. My wife is from Mexico, but I've never cut any of the palms or coconuts. One time I did end up falling a bunch of pine for timber of all things.

Well some may hate them but I don't, apart form the mess the head makes.

They are alot of fun to take down, excellent to practise your wedges on, speed up a pole on spikes, bombing the heads out, I've rigged down logs and heads, but still to speedline a palm. That and they arn't under the Tree Preservation Order which means no waiting time and you can do them straight away.

The real palms to hate are the Washies grr... They are so thorny/huge/heavy/shitloads of deadfronds...
