Default Blackheath - Blue Mountains - Storm Damage 5th July 2011

A few pictures from Blackheath (Blue Mountains, Australia) of a tree getting personal with a house. This is but one of many hundreds of trees that were damaged or uprooted by gale force winds on 5th July 2011.

I wonder if any roots were damaged when the driveway in the background was constructed?

So peaceful, a tree having a sleep.

That ~100mm branch in the bottom middle of the picture was left until all was clear of the roof as it seemed to be supporting most of the trunk. Sure enough, as I undercut it the whole trunk moved down slowly allowing me to cut some more blocks off the end.

A new experience for me here. As I cut off another block, the remaining stump returned to almost upright over 3-4 seconds.

Not too much damage to the house. Only one hole in the roof and some loose guttering.
