Default big poplars removal

We remove 4 big poplars today using a 20 ton crane. The trees were bout 28 mtr high. I would have like to take them down in bigger bits but we had very limit space to lower the limbs and was told that there is to be no damage to any other trees. Taken bout 8 hours butit was another good day work.

That would have cost a fortune, good on ya's!

Bout time we see equipment being used rather people abused all in the name of a dollar.

Great photos.
Just curious. Where all the trees dead or dying and why were they removed?

ekka is right , it is winter here in new zealand ,and poplars been deciduous trees they have no leaves at moment. The reason for them to be removed was the owners wanted more room for their native trees to grow and they were also worry because big branch breaking off and may damage neighbours property

Good job Phil. Big pieces are great if you can lift them off safely and like you say, practically lay them down somewhere....but they still looked fair size lumps to me mate.

Were you the climber? How did the crane operator shape up? Do you get many jobs like that?

yes I do all the climbing when it come to crane work although i let a work mate have a go on one of them trees for his first time, he got a good buzz out it and did really well. The crane operator are awesome, I hardly need to tell him where to take me, it like they can read your mind. It not that offen we do crane job ( two or three times a year) but I do recommend cranes as it would have taken us two or three days of hard labor and the owners not want any other trees under them poplars damage
