Hi All, Well today it was the Arborist seminar series 2011 @ Vermeer Smithfield. ![]() Todays seminar was about rigging, if you are familier with these training days it is a different theme every year. I was there with camera in hand taking photo's for all who could not for one reason or another be there. I do hope you enjoy viewing these photos as much as I did taking them. The man in the spot light is Ed Carpenter from North American Training Solutions, who was doing all the demonstrations whilst discussing the techniques used with his audience featuring audience participation, thankyou Ed. Aussies love the hands on approach. ![]() I will not be discussing the methods here, as I have around 112 photo's I could talk about, so I will just post some randome pictures to have a glimpse of what the day is about, Ed discussed the the uses and benefits of the GRCS and portawrap lowering devices, various uses for prussic loops whilst climbing and the use of a zip line for moving loads from the tree to the chipper with minimum effort. Here are some photos of the days events and some of the crowd aswell. ![]() The zip line with a log load... The mechanical advantage rig... ![]() some of the crowd...even wounded soldiers couldn't stay away, I hope this member of the audience recovers fully... ![]() who could forget Possum Jack a real gentleman and his lady from the bush.

A shorter tether on that rope ascender would be wise. Hell will freeze over before that "walk of life" gets in this place.

Nice pictures. I'm going to the seminar in Melbourne on Wednesday. Vermeer here always do it in their warehouse though, no trees outside to give good demo's like in the pictures.

Rumour has it that his mate, Taylor, didn't do an aerial picus inspection because the cord to his laptop was too short. ![]() So you end up with an expensive picus result at ground level for a anomaly that is say 50' high.
