Thats right, the chain does come off when you tip it on the side, you need to pre-cut with a smaller bar first.
cheers

I was thinking the same, why cut up so small? Must be to leave as firewood for all those freezing cold Victorians ... I got a burned today and sweated a lot, I think it was 24C today.

Hi all

it's been cold and wet down under, we had a break in the weather just another removal. The bucket truck was too short so I had to climb the last tops. In these photos you can see the earmuffs on my helmet have the 2-way radio set up from Peltor they are very good for communicating to the ground crew especially to the rope handler. Yes, I know I'm not wearing the safety glasses! but my visor doesn't fit into earmuff set up - so bad luck that day!

cheers

phill,
2 days on that tree, but we had a lot of rain and traffic on the first day.We used the tower to remove as much as we could reach then back again to climb the head and rig out the tops and remove the timber.

cheers

Kimtree,
the butt was left at 25ft tall it didn't have to come right down to ground level, the rest was taken away for fire wood, no milling, it had white ants and fungus all the way along the trunk base. That large peice with the crane was 4.5 ton.

cheers
