What a goose, he couldn't even handle a little ditch...LOL...I have noticed that your barriers, warning signs mean nothing to the general public,...There just something else to walk around pulling a face as they go!...I think I would have left this idiot to to work out were his 4wd stick was.

All the dead wood had to go,the owner wanted it loppedbut that wasn't going to happen ,that's how it ended up.

Its always very hard getting owners to understand that what they want done to the tree on their property isn't the best thing for the tree or for them. We have all faced the same dilemma I'm sure.
We've done jobs after literally days of careful negotiation and explainations, only to drive past weeks later to see the lop job they wanted done from the outset done by someone else??? So they've paid twice!!! and had their tree wrecked Nucking futs some people honestly Thats what beer and rum were invented for..

Ace, that tree you pruned, what type was it? Awefully messy prior with lots of dead, similar to our swamp mahoganies up here.

Its a Euc sp. i think it was a broadleaf box.It was part of the shire's building plan permit that it had to stay, the driveway cut is to close and it has raised soil around the base.No drip line zone in forced, just don't get it, but as along as it stayed they are happy.

A lot did come off that. Hefty weight reduction but was certainly close to targets. The pruning probably wont have done near as much damage as the construction did, we just dont get an instant before and after perspective with that. The new house never should have been built that close, or the tree not retained. Cake and eat it too...

Glad at least they didnt lop it.

Nice, Are you compelled by the crane company to have a dogman?

Can you supply your own?

Yes a dogman comes with the crane.I have done a crane Ticket but, the dogman oversees all lifting on the hook. Most Crane companys don't like lifting trees because of the unknown weights. The biggest crane we have used was a 100 tonner, it came with 2 trucks carrying counter weights and a big forklift.

Hey shaggs only the good stuff gets milled up the rest goes to firewood. Some of those logs got milled up.

OK, does the crane ticket you got include/cover doggers?

Also, how well does a dogman see something up a tree 150' away compared to the arborist, especially if there's rain, fog, branches, sun etc in the way?

I've had some good ones and I've had some PITA ones, and the rate they charge for another bloke standing there with his hands in his pockets is annoying.

I was thinking of getting a doggers ticket, but waste of time if the crane co's veto it.

Nice job Ace you have 3120s how good are they?I don't need a really fast fly through a log in seconds as much as a saw with torque and it struck my eye but I'm asking you because you've used them.

Lopa, when you get a crane that means they dont have to send a dogger out? Here they charge upto $100/hours for a dogger to come watch.

Ekka
The crane company we use always sends the same dogman out, most of the time we have already striped all the limbs and the trunk is ready for lifting. We have our own 16ton crane with a hight of 22m that we use for the smaller lifts. When we hire 50ton or more the dogman is part of the deal, the dogman is usually in our Ewp.
