That's a Bow Bar. Used mainly for felling small trees, bucking & firewood, [as in the video]

I think he was trying to show that if you know how to use one properly they won't kickback. They aren't sold in shops because of that. There's a way to use them and a lot of ways not to.

I think Baileys still sell them and they come up on ebay sometimes.

Haha no not at! Just my reaction to the whole concept of the thing, as was therrins.

Looks like your dead right. I've just never seen anything like it before and think it's a pretty crazy concept.

If used properly it works very well, less bending over and pinching the bar & chain is almost non existent.

Huh, interesting.

I was just wondering cuz I'd never seen one before.

Wouldn't mind giving one a shot...just because I suppose. Then again, I guess that if they were all that great that husky and stihl would sell them too.

Husky still make them I think, did a few years ago anyway. You could get one here, Chainsaw Parts cheap chain saw parts

Just be careful, make sure you use the cleat/spike thing like he did, and don't take the guards off. No big deal.

I could do with a bar like that on my Zombie killer saw when I play video games.

You can buy them from Baileys. They'll tell you don't sell them ,for liability reasons maybe, but if you persist, they magically seem to "find" them. If you guys ever use one, make dam sure the bars "paw" is against the work. If you're man enough to hang onto the saw ,they work good. But if you're lumped into the group of the "public", and need a manufacturer's guarantee that you absolutely cannot hurt your own self no matter what, then by all means stay away from the bow bars. They have tremendous advantages in nasty dense overgrowth, but they ARE NOT forgiving in the slightest.Thats why I had to get one
