Hmmm, I don't know what was done there but I doubt it was the technique in this video as you'd expect to see a step both sides of the wedge.

Have a look at what some wanker wrote over at Youtube.

Quote:
There is absolutely no controlling the tree as it is falling. with the way you showed when i fell a tree I control it not just drop it how would you stop it if some thing came in front of the tree very time consuming cut.
So I went to his profile and found he wrote a comment on
video that said ...

Quote:
I have been in the tree business for over 18 years and have done some pretty amazing stuff well that was untill i seen that climb.. you did a great job.. badest video i have ever seen when it comes to tree climbing. just remember a tree climbers worst fear is something he trusted busted.. lumberjack
Now imagine, we got some-one with 18 years experience saying there's no control and how do you expect to stop the tree when it's falling. I replied at youtube ....
Quote:
Wow, stopping a tree whilst it's falling in case something is coming! And what about the part where you say there's no controlling this tree as it is falling .... unbelievable especially coming from some-one with 18 years tree cutting experience. Best you give it away mate coz you got no idea.

VERY impressive technique to felling a tree. How small, or how big of a tree would be safe to use this technique? Would it be safe to try on something around the 24" across the stump, or not? Thanks for posting another good video. Bruce.

Over at Youtube I have banned 2 fools so far and deleted some comments.

Obviously cyberspace undermining dickheads.

Last idiot wrote this .....

Quote:
Trick looking cut, but really, you are cutting all of the hinge off, the holding wood. The most important part for controlling your drop. Plus, tongue and groove is for decking. Try that on a real tree in storm conditions, and see your results, cut your hinge off on a 150 foot plus and see that pop right out of that slot. Ha Ha! Funny
Funny thing is the technique is in Jeff Jepsoms recent book, To Fell a Tree, however as usual the keyboard hereos know little and are just trolling.
